Use Sidekick in a browser, in the desktop app, or from a Slack channel connected to a Room. Work started in Slack also appears in that Room, so you can review it later in Sidekick.

Three ways to use Sidekick

Web

The full Sidekick application in the browser. Everything a thread holds is here.

Desktop app

Sidekick as an installed app. It adds on-your-computer execution and nudges.

Slack

Mention Sidekick in a channel mapped to a Room. Its Slack thread is recorded in that Room.

Slack work also appears in Sidekick

A thread started in Slack appears in the connected Room on the web or desktop app, including its participants, tool activity, approvals, files, and outputs. Messages move from Slack into Sidekick. Messages added later from the Sidekick web or desktop app are not posted back to Slack.

What the desktop app adds

The desktop app adds two capabilities:
  • On-your-computer execution: run a thread’s work on your approved device instead of the cloud. See How work runs.
  • Nudges: prompts that bring relevant work back to you at the right moment.
A Slack channel must be connected to a Room before its work appears in Sidekick. Sidekick reads a channel thread only when mentioned.
