Glean utilizes a 'Model Hub' and 'AI Gateway' to provide access to over 40 open and proprietary LLMs, including those from OpenAI, Google, Anthropic, and Amazon. They also have their own proprietary model called 'Waldo', which is an agentic search model built on NVIDIA Nemotron 3 Nano and fine-tuned using DPO and reinforcement learning.

Pricing
Glean Enterprise Flex / Glean Core Suite
Custom
Glean offers two main pricing models: Enterprise Flex and Glean Core Suite. Both are licensed on a per-user, per-month basis, but the seat price is not publicly available and requires a quote. **Glean Enterprise Flex** includes a per-user license with a pooled allowance of pay-per-use credits (FlexCredits) for advanced AI features. FlexCredits are consumed for various actions like 'Thinking Mode Assistant Query' or 'Deep Research Run', with a rate card outlining the FlexCredits per unit usage. **Glean Core Suite** includes core platform capabilities like the Enterprise Graph, search, and connectors. Model-driven features are billed as 'Glean Model Hub Usage' based on an upfront commit, charged at model or hosting provider API rates (per million tokens). There is also a 'Flexible Model Management' option, which is a custom fee based on a percentage of total LLM usage. Third-party estimates suggest a 'Base Platform' at $45-50/user/month and a 'Work AI Add-on' at $15/user/month, with a mandatory 12% of license fees for 'Premium Support'. However, these are not official prices from Glean.

Moat

- Unique UX

Glean exhibits moderate defensibility, primarily driven by its comprehensive enterprise AI platform, extensive integrations, and a growing list of notable customers. While its 'Model Hub' leverages third-party LLMs, the proprietary 'Waldo' model and the deep integration into enterprise workflows create some switching costs. However, the underlying technology is still largely dependent on external LLM providers, limiting its long-term proprietary advantage.
Openness
- Open model weights
- Published research
- Open source contributions
- Transparency reports
- Public safety evals
Glean emphasizes an "open architecture mindset" for its enterprise AI platform, focusing on interoperability and customer control over data access and safeguards. They highlight their use of an "open stack" and offer access to both commercial and open-source models through a "Model hub." Glean is SOC 2 Type II, ISO/IEC 27001, and ISO/IEC 42001 certified, demonstrating a commitment to security and responsible AI governance. They also provide various legal documents and policies publicly. While they contribute to the broader open-source ecosystem by supporting open standards and interoperability, they do not appear to open-source their own core product or model weights.
